- Q. How do I create a menu?
- A. To the left-hand side of the toolbar there is an "Add" button with a blue cross (like a + sign). Click on this and follow instructions.
- Q. How do I save a link to a web page into a menu?
- A. There are three ways to save a link:
- With the page you'd like to save open, select the menu where you'd like to save the link, and click the "Add Page" button at the bottom of that menu;
- On the page that you want to save, right-click the "Add" button on the left-hand side of the toolbar and choose the menu that you want to save the link into;
- Press and hold the mouse button whilst hovering over the icon to the left-hand side of the web address, drag and drop into the menu that you want and the link will be saved.
- Q. How do I use Groups?
- A. The Groups menu allows you to save menus into different groups controlling who can see the menu. If a menu were saved into the "Public" group any user has access to it; if saved into the "Private" group it is only visible to you. Other groups may be available to you with varying levels of access, for example you may have organisation-wide and project groups." The "My Groups" menu to the left of the toolbar can be used to view the groups available.
- Q. How do I find another persons' menus?
- A. To find another persons menus, click on the "Look Up" button found to the lower left-hand side of the toolbar. This will list the available groups for searching. Click the group that you want to check: this will display the people in the group and any pre-populated links. In the "By Person" menu find the person whose menus you want to see and click on them; their menus will be delivered in the lower part of the toolbar.
- Q. Does Network Menus slow my computer down?
- A. No. Network Menus does not slow your computer down, however with Network Menus installed Internet Explorer may take slightly longer to load.
- Q. Why do menus go change colour for a few seconds when I create them?
- A. The change of colour indicates that the changes you have made are being syncronised with the server. Once syncronisation is complete the Menu or Link returns to the normal colour.
- Q. Why do blue bars keep appearing at the top of my page?
- A. The blue bars are menus that Network Menus has identified as related to the page you are viewing. Look in these menus to find useful information.
- Q. How can I put files into my menus?
- A. It is possible to put files into your Network Menus. You can either:
- Open the menu where you'd like to add the file, and click the "Add File" button. Select the file you'd like to add and click "Upload";
- Type "My Documents" or "Desktop" into the address bar in Internet Explorer. Navigate and find the file that you want to place into a menu then drag-and-drop the file into the menu that you want.
Note: For security reasons there are usually restrictions as to the types of file that may be added. In general it is possible to add PDF, PNG and OGG files up to 3 Megabytes in size.
- Q. Why do I get iexplore.exe Crash when I close Internet Explorer?
- A. Some web pages use a technology called "Flash". Sometimes when you use Flash and Network Menus together, problems can arise. It does not, however, effect your use of Network Menus, Internet Explorer or Flash.
- Q. My menus have gone wrong, what can I do?
- A. 99% of issues with Network Menus are solved by two things:
- Firstly close all open Internet Explorer windows, and start again.
- If this doesn't work, you need to refresh your menus. To do this choose "Options" (the green tick or wait cursor) > "Refresh Menus".
- Q. Where do I go to speak to someone about Network Menus?
