4.1 Synchronising with the Server
Network Menus functions by replicating the menus you create on the central server. If you change which computer you are using, the synchronisation process can copy your menus to your new computer, and you can continue as before.
Furthermore we have noticed that, on occasion, synchronisation can be lost between your computer and the server. Often this happens when the connexion betwixt your computer and the server is interrupted at a critical point during the replication process.
The result is that when menus are returned as Common Menus, they do not appear in the original form as the appear in the “My Menus” section. To overcome this problem, you can try “Synchronising with the server”.
Sometimes the synchronisation process is fired automatically; sometimes you may prefer to manually initiate the process if you believe replication has gone awry, and you wish to ensure synchronisation is maintained.
If you receive a dialogue commenting that synchronisation has been lost, simply click “Yes” to resynchronise. This happens when the versions system detects a difference between the version number stored on your computer and that of the server; this detects the majority of problems.
To manually initiate the process:
- Click the “Options” Menu
- Select “Synchronise With Server” from the “Advanced” Menu
Your menus will be restored.
